You can expect the well insulated spas with the simple systems to be between $30-$40 a month. The bigger spas and those fitted with more jet pumps can be up to $90 a month, depending on how often they are used.
Why is my spa water cloudy?
The cloudy water is the organic matter that has built up in the spa due to insufficient sanitiser/chlorine dosage. You will need to clean your spa filter/s, balance and shock dose the spa water.
How long do my spa filters last?
Normally you can expect them to last up to 18 months. We recommend hosing them down on a regular basis and using a spa filter cleaner to help prolong their life. The more the spa is used the more they will need to be cleaned. A blocked/dirty filter can put pressure on your pump and lead to flow issues.
How often should I test my spa water?
Ideally 2 - 3 times a week, keeping an eye on your Ph and Chlorine levels and adjusting accordingly. Feel free to bring a sample into the shop and we can talk you through the testing process.
How often should I change my spa pool water?
Depending on how often your spa gets used and maintained, we recommend once every 4 - 6 months. If it has very heavy use, we recommend doing a pipe clean at the same time.
Why has my pool turned green?
Most of the time your pool will turn green due to low/no chlorine levels, lack of circulation and a build up of Algae. You will need to check over your pump and filtration system and if everything is in order then add a shock dose treatment to the pool to kill the algae. Algae can rapidly grow as the water gets warmer in Spring so it is advisable to start to increase your pump hours as the daylight hours get longer.
Can I swim in my green pool?
If your pool water is green, murky or slimy it is NOT advisable to swim in it. It indicates compromised sanitation and therefore is susceptible to bacteria contamination and algae bloom. Get in touch and we can help treat the water to bring it back to clear, sparkling and swimmable.
How often should I test my pool water?
Once a week in the summer, during periods of heavy use, and once a month over the winter once the pool has been winterised.
I have sore eyes after being in the pool?
Best to get the water checked out it could be a couple of things - either unbalanced PH levels, or not enough chlorine in your pool, which has led to a compound called Chloromine developing. Bring in a water sample and we can get it checked.
Should I turn my pool off for the winter?
We do not recommend turning the pools off as we can get some very cold winter temperatures. We like to have the pools running a minimum of 2 hours a day 7-9am (coldest part of the day).
My Pool pump has started to sound noisy?
Always good to know how your pump normally sounds as when that noise changes it could be a sign of something stuck in the pump or the bearings may need replacing. Water flow is essential for your pool pump, if the impeller gets blocked or the bearings seize it can lead to no water flow which can, in turn, overheat and melt the internal parts.
